HorseTenders Experience
Horsemanship Camps in Greenfield, NH . During the 5 day camps, the campers will be exposed to every aspect of HT training using the Foundations mustangs. People do not often get exposed to real herds and the inner working of the horse’s personal lives. Here at the farm, they have a unique opportunity to witness and experience it every day all day! These horses have so much to teach us. We simply have to learn how to listen, develop the awareness, and properly interact with these magnificent animals. Our 5 day camps are a great launching point for developing a deeper understanding and partnership with horses.
Here at HorseTenders we believe in the power of learning and understanding. Horse owners who have hired HT to train their horses acquire deep insights while engaging in a comprehensive program designed to learn all about their individual horse from our trainers. These insights are critical in understanding and developing a good relationship with any horse.
Typically, our HT trainers spend 4 weeks teaching and often re-teaching the horse the fundamentals. The trainers are also spending 4 weeks teaching and often re-teaching the owners too! By the end of just 4 weeks the owners are riding their own horse with confidence, developing bonds of mutual trust and respect whereupon their horse is happy to take them on safe and enjoyable trail rides. It is a complex process and takes dedication and commitment from the horse, the owner and the trainer. This is the core of our unique training approaches, and it works with great consistency!
We greatly appreciate and are encouraged by the growing appreciation for our work and success with our Developing Mettle without Metal methodologies and approaches. While receiving many requests for internships, training certifications and clinics throughout the nation, we have been inspired to find a means to more effectively accommodate these requests. Although we train all breeds, our trainers have a great passion in working with Mustangs and resultantly strive to stay close to home in an effort to work with the HorseTenders Mustang Foundation mustangs located at our farm in Greenfield, NH. Their hearts are with the mustangs. So how do they pass on their unique training approaches on a larger scale and still put the mustangs first?
At the 5 day camps, every morning starts with a quiet observation of the herd with trainers answering questions and providing insights within the herd dynamics and their applications to the training approaches. The remainder of each morning is dedicated discovering and experiencing the insights of trimming hooves and learning the finer points of what a hoof is telling the owner then progresses to what a horse’s mouth looks like from the inside and why floating is essential to a horses health. The afternoons are filled to the brim with foundation ground training principles, non-verbal communication skills development, and gaining a full understanding of prey verses herd mentality and its impact on training and developing a relationship with a horse. On the last two days, riding is introduced and it never ceases to amaze everyone involved how the horses respond to the riders and their new knowledge. It is like the horses are waiting for the pieces to fall together for the human and when they do, the horses are so responsive and giving.
It has taken the creative genius of the trainers and mustangs to put what normally takes 4 weeks to accomplish into the 5 day period of the camps. It is possible, and amazingly enough, there is no stress. We fully empower each participant to have fun and enjoy the incredible experience. The learning and teaching flows so easily from the trainers and the mustangs, one may wonder why they waited so long to join our herd!
The week long camps are for families, beginners and experts. They are fun with many memories to be made. The calendar for clinics and camp dates are available under the Registration Page and new camp dates will be posted annually every January. On-sight lodging is available either by pitching your own tent or camper or by experiencing one of our expedition tents. Space is limited for each camp to maximize the experience. Feel free to contact us for any additional details or fill in the form below to sign up for a week of unique learning. For payments, please go to out Payments page.
Here’s what one of our recent participants had to say:
Our family was blessed to be able to spend a week at Horse Tenders in August. We had an amazing trip! We were able to work with some of the Foundations horses and to ride the beautiful trails. Although we have our mustangs at home with us in Texas, the training tips and insights we gained from Kris Kokal’s steady leadership have moved us all along in our journeys as horsemen and as a family. Thank you for an incomparable and memorable family trip.
