Sheila

Sheila

March 2014 update from Sheila’s owner David:

My Sheila is amazing. She is so smart, so funny and so very loving that she has been referred to as a love bug.

She was not always that horse that I have. It is thanks to Horsetenders that she became a horse that could be adopted. From what I was told, and the scars on her back are a reminder, my girl was very poorly treated and humans were not to be trusted. It took a lot of time to get her to trust again. That is what Horsetenders gives to each mustang that comes to them. The horses get the time they need, the love, the patience and the training to become a horse that can have a home.

It was by dumb luck that I found Horsetenders through an ad at horseclicks.com. That is where I first saw Sheila.I then went up for my Mustang Experience and met the horses. So beautiful and healthy with plenty of room for all. I expressed interest in Sheila and Stephanie suggested I spend some time with her to get to know her.

I went up several times and worked with Sheila with the guidance of Nik and Kris. She quickly wormed her way into my heart and I bought her. While my barn was getting built she continued to stay at Horsetenders and I spent 1-2 days a week for several months working with her and taking lessons on her.

While spending my time up there I was able to watch them work with the horses that were just learning to trust humans. These are horses that have been badly abused. The process is slow and cannot be rushed. It was amazing to see a horse change through their positive respectful approach.

If you meet my Sheila now you would never guess that she lived through such dark and sad times and that she could not be handled. She is a dazzling and confident horse who loves the attention and affection from her humans. It is because of the time, energy, love, patience and training Horsetenders gives to the mustangs. The price that I paid for her was tiny compared to what had been invested in her in the two years she lived at Horsetenders. Thank you…
