Like most animal lovers, Doug and I have always been intrigued by the wild mustangs and when we learned that there was a herd of them in New Hampshire we had to check it out. We will never forgot the first time walking in the fields and being welcomed by you both and the 16 gentle, curious, majestic mustangs. I’m not sure if we picked Flint or Flint picked us but we just couldn’t stop thinking about him.
We wanted another horse but the thought of starting a horse seemed overwhelming. Doug never had a horse before and he really wanted a partnership and that special bond that comes from mutual respect. Kris did an amazing explaining how horses think which gave Doug the confidence to train his own horse. We were so impressed how you listened to our concerns and addressed them with sincere compassion and patience. Every session you could see the bond with Doug and Flint growing stronger.
I wish you were there the day Doug put Flint in the trailer and drove him home. It speaks volumes of what he learned – that he would attempt this himself! He was so proud, and pleased. Flint could not have been better. The confidence that grew in Doug and Flint is all attributed to the genuine caring, sharing of your knowledge and desire to do the right thing.
Flint’s adjustment to his new home has been easy thanks to the guidance you gave. Doug can’t wait to come back and learn how to ride his new life long buddy. We feel like a new chapter of our lives unfolded in the magic of the HorseTenders.
Ride safely,
Rosemary
2013 Update!
Since Nik and Stephanie’s visit Flint has made some more milestones. We walked him to Greenie Park in Newton where Flint wanted to join the boys at the skate board park. He went through the swing set, around the jungle gym and joined a three bicycle parade. The girls weaved their bikes between the two horses as we walked down the street. He was perfect!
We took him in the trailer to a state park where he was hand walked around a lake, up a hill and trail blazed though thick brush to avoid thick ice. He was perfect. Back in the trailer to the beach…see attached pictures! He was perfect!
In the meantime we sit on him daily and he stands there calmly even when Zaraq has jealous temper tantrums with rears, bucks and runs circles around him! Today when I sat on him he walked over to the gate where the trail leads into the woods. I think he was telling us something! He loves to lay in the sun and we often join him for snuggle-time. He is perfect!
Hope you are all doing well. Looking forward to seeing you all again!
Be safe and seek joy!
Rosemary
